The birth of Yamay Recreation World --- Taiwan’s first BOT case With the beginning of the Six-Year National Development Plan, Average number of trips per person was increased. Taiwan Sugar Corporation (TSC) and Taiwan Tourism Bureau have together completed the feasibility study report for large recreation area development. We selected TSC Yamay Sugar Factory Field about 200 hectares for the development base in Houli Township, Taichung County. We expect to build a multifunctional recreation area and offer Taiwan people the fullest leisure recreation area.

Aim of Yamay Recreation World is to be the first sentinel vacation center with theme entertainment in Taiwan. We can administer an unprecedented resort to Taiwan people with a number of government measures and the best team.
Expecting to create a leisure resort with the international standards, we also want to integrate education, shopping, entertainment and leisure function. We want to offer a variety of recreation activities for various tourists, and build a healthy leisure environment with family travel trends. We will plan to develop well-known stores, goods and shows, so Yamay Recreation World combines application of technology and culture with recreation. We want to make Yamay Recreation World an entertain-education resort.
     
February 5, 1996 The company was approved to establish.  
June 27, 1996 Our company singed for 50-year development management of Yamay large recreation area with Taiwan Sugar Corporation.  
April 11,1997 Our company’s plan about investment in the construction and development of Yamay large recreation area was adopted to meet with “Statute for Encouragement of Private Participation in Transportation Infrastructure Projects” by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.  
November 5,1997 The Taiwan Provincial Government Regional Planning Commission reviewed and passed the Yamay Recreation World development case.  
June 20,1998 The Committee for Planning and Promoting the Utilization of Long-Term Funding in the council for Economic Planning and Development reviewed and passed the utilization of long-term funding about NT$12.5 billion in the Yamay Recreation World investment scheme.  
July 31,1998 For indigenization, our company was renamed to Yamay International Development Co., Ltd.  
October 29,1998 Our company singed for NT$12.5 billion long-term loan with twenty-one banks in Taiwan.  
December 18, 1998 We signed a joint venture contract with Taiwan Sugar Corporation. Taiwan Sugar Corporation invested NT$600 million in the Yamay Recreation World.  
April 6, 1999 Houli Interchange, Yamay Toll Station, and the 500-meter-long road to Yamay Recreation Area began construction on April 6, 1999. They were completed on August 30, 2002, and opened on December 17, 2002.  
May 16, 1999 We contracted with Taiwan Sugar Corporation for 50-year registration of Yamay recreation area superficies, and have the priority to continue renting for 20 years.  
July 1, 2000 Mala Bay Water World opened.  
May 25, 2002 Discovery World opened.
